Gates County Rescue Squad was formed in 1964 by a group of gentlemen who were concerned with the well-being of the citizens of Gates County.  This thought come about one day when a search was organized to locate a missing child.  This incident ended in prompting for the group's formation.  Until the organization of the rescue squad, all medical emergencies were transported by local funeral coaches.  Since that time we have grown to have three ambulances, one QRV, and one heavy rescue truck.  We currently run from one centralized station located on Hwy 158 at Eason's Crossroads.  Gates County consists of a population of about 12,000 over a 346 square mile coverage area.  Of the original charter, we currently still have one active member, Mr. Durwood Evans who has over the years maintained a status of EMT-I, ERT, and State Instructor.
The old station was constructed in 1964   and right and left bays were added in 1972.  These 3 pictures were from the destruction process to start the new building.

Thanks to the many members who were able to dedicate time and sweat to the building process, the new Station 80 is up and fully functioning.
The new station contains a comfortable day room, full service kitchen, men's & women's restrooms with showers, office, a massive meeting room, a bedroom with two sets of bunkbeds, and a large heated bay capable of containing up to six vehicles.
